What is askCUE PI?

The askCUE PI (personal injury) service allows approved solicitor organisations to check their client’s records held on the CUE PI database. These records relate to personal injury/industrial illness incidents reported to insurance companies, which may or may not give rise to a claim.

The service was introduced to meet the requirements of the Pre-Action Protocol for Low Value Personal Injury Claims in Road Traffic Accidents (the RTA Protocol) which state that Claim Notification Forms (CNF) submitted through the Claims Portal from 1 June 2015 must contain an askCUE PI search reference number generated by the service. 

To make an enquiry you are required to provide the following information about your client;

  • Forename
  • Surname
  • Address
  • Date of Birth
  • National Insurance number

This information is used to search and locate any records held on the CUE PI database. Under the requirements of the Pre-Action Protocol for Low Value Personal Injury Claims in Road Traffic Accidents (the RTA Protocol) the askCUE PI service will only provide records that have occurred in the last five years.

You must obtain your client’s consent prior to undertaking an enquiry. This is an important requirement of making an enquiry through the askCUE PI service.
